When preparing your submission for Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards, please review the entry criteria carefully.
Please ensure that your submission contains sufficient information. Do include relevant facts and figures where possible. Some categories may require you to include details of a particular initiative. Kindly select those that best prove your point.
- Introduction of agency (200 words)
- Demonstration of excellence (500 – 100 words), including: Their approach to finding and developing great people from within or outside the industry, Insight, and foresight: spotting trends and the skills needed to advance client results ,Customer service ,Understanding and executing client requirements ,Innovative approaches to client problem ,Ethical practices ,Responsibility around outcomes and how this is shared between the agency and the client

Once you register for the submission, login credentials for your entry account will be generated and emailed to you. You can use your entry account to add or delete your submissions for the awards.
The contact details you provide in your entry form will be used throughout the awards process. If these details change after the form has been submitted, please send your new contact information by email to entries@umeawards.com
The entity name and address quoted in the registration form will be used for further correspondence relating to your entry.
Please note that we will use the brand name rather than that of the project or team in our coverage.
- Stick to the word limit - short & crisp fits the bill.
- Avoid Marketing/PR jargon & back your words with relevant facts instead. For e.g. 'synergies' were created or integration was ‘seamless’. Explain 'how’.
- Write persuasively.
- Include supporting evidence.
- Ensure the links you submit are accessible.
- Proofread and ensure there are no spelling and grammatical errors.
- These awards are open to agencies, brands, production houses, design studios, creative studios, and content creators for their clients.
- The work submitted should have been executed only in 2022
- All work submitted by agencies should have an approval from the client.
- A single piece of work, if relevant, can be submitted in multiple categories.
- The work submitted should have been released only in 2022
- Entries submitted should have been approved by the client before submission.
- The Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards team reserves the right to use the submissions for promotions.
- All the entries must be in English for the better understanding of the jury. In the case of video, please use subtitles.
- Please ensure that you submit a high-resolution version of the creative.
Categories are open to both B2C and B2B entrants. Judges will consider the merits of each entry taking into consideration that metrics and success factors differ between B2C and B2B marketing programs. Judges will consider the linkage between strategy, execution and outcomes achieved.
Judging Nomination criteria
The jury will include senior marketers across various sectors
The jury would be judging the entries basis only the submitted material.
The jury will be advised to gauge entries on the basis of idea, content, design, execution, engagement, and innovation.
- The jury/Industry experts shall have final decision on the nominations.
- Thereafter, the public shall vote online(easy, fast and secure) on majority of the categories (under strict measures to ensure accuracy and transparency) and public vote shall be final and binding.
- Nominations for Special categories including Marketing Campaign of the year 2022 award and UMEA Most Distinguished Award shall be made and judged by the industry experts/UMEA Board of Directors.
- The voting shall go on until event day and announced on the dinner gala and later on the UMEA and Evolve Group Africa websites.
Categories
This recognizes campaigns that used striking creativity and strategic planning to reach and engage target audiences. Channels include outdoor, TV, radio, online or print.
This recognizes the effortless strategic alignment of two or more partnering organizations to deliver a compelling customer marketing campaign. Showing how the joint approach and shared goals achieved a measurable win-win result.
This recognizes the best use of digital to achieve a business objective. Including social media, innovative, creative, programmatic, or immersive to deliver marketing excellence and a strong return on investment.
This recognizes excellence in the field of PR and related communications. It covers all aspects of the discipline, from brand building events through to the effective management of an issue or crisis. With demonstrated use of creative and innovative strategies to achieve desired business outcomes.
This recognizes the innovative development of a new product or service. Its customer-centricity approach leading to an outstanding value proposition and mutually benefitting the business and customers.
This recognizes the digital agency that has had an unrivalled year. Showcased successes across digital strategy, insight and creative, for clients, outshone competitors and set new digital standards for the future.

This recognizes the best individual campaign, product/service launch or event that delivered a stunning impact on the target audience and competition.
This recognizes the effective harnessing of an organization’s influence to deliver a positive social or environmental change.
Special Categories
UMEA most distinguished Award is a new category that shall be presented to individual(s) who have made the most significant contribution to the field of marketing in Uganda through sound business practice, development of the marketing profession, or wider industry achievements.
This award is not open for entry.
Nominations for the Marketing Campaign of the year 2022 award shall be made and judged by the industry experts/UMEA Board of Directors.
This recognizes the best individual campaign that delivered a stunning impact on the target audience and competition
Submissions should include:
- Introduction of campaign (200 words)
- Demonstration of excellence (500 – 100 words), including: Their approach to finding and developing great campaign idea, Insight, and foresight: spotting trends and the skills needed to advance client results , Understanding and executing the campaign, Innovative approaches to situation analysis ,Ethical practices
The overall winner would have demonstrated along with overall marketing excellence:
- Clear understanding of the Marketing issues faced by a brand, product, or service
- Insights and understanding of consumer or customer opportunities for a brand, product, or service
- Marketing team execution of the brand, product or service strategy against ROI and growth KPI's
- Commercial value delivered and improved brand, product or service equity contributed by the Implementation of the Marketing Campaign
Nominations for the Marketing Campaign of the year 2022 award shall be made and judged by the industry experts/UMEA Board of Directors.
